Together for a Just Future

Anna Lindh Foundation Poland (ALF) together with partners from Tunisia and Egypt is holding a two-day Forum Together for a Just Future: Learning from each other through social dialogue on diversity, equality and democracy, on 1-2 March 2013 in Gdansk, Poland. The Forum’s aim is to integrate Polish members of the network, as well as to create an opportunity for discussion and to share experiences on building an open society and developing a Euro-Mediterranean cooperation. The Forum’s chief coordinator, REVERS Foundation from Cracow, and the hosting institution, the Baltic Sea Cultural Centre in Gdansk, are supported by a consortium of 15 Polish and 3 foreign ALF member organisations.

The Forum’s events will take place in both the rooms of the17th century Old Town Hall (seat of The Baltic Sea Cultural Centre), in the City Culture Institute in the most prestigious Gdansk street: Dlugi Targ and, courtesy of The European Solidarity Centre, on the grounds of Gdansk Shipyard – the cradle of the Solidarity movement.

The Forum will open with a presentation and discussion prepared by the International Cultural Centre in Cracow (ALF Poland’s coordinator) on the historical, economic, political and cultural relations of Poland and the Mediterranean Region. This topic will be further extended by the following four debates: The Perception of the “Arab Spring of Nations” by Polish Youth, Multicultural Education for Diversity and Dialogue, Gender Equality in Poland and Arab Countries, Mass Media Influence on the Perception of the Arab World. Each debate will enable participants to join the discussions as well as share their experience and opinion. They will also have the opportunity to further reflect on the topics in smaller workshop groups.

Additionally, the ALF Poland members will integrate with a “speed dating” activity. The members will create recommendations for the whole network for 2013-2014, by using an Open Space Methodology, on Euro-Mediterranean cooperation for the development of civil society.

Among the Forum’s participants, beside the ALF Poland members, there will also be local social and cultural activists from the Pomerania Region. Information on the Forum’s development, registration rules, a detailed programme, press accreditation and sponsorship opportunities will be available on www.justfuture.pl.
