Already for the 5th time the Baltic Sea Cultural Centre invites for the Baltic Meetings of Illustrators.
Meetings are a great place to promote the most interesting achievements of illustrators from all over the world, mostly focusing on books for children - the most sensitive readers.
The main subject of this year’s edition will be humor and laughter in children’s books. We shall talk about it also with our honorary guest, great Polish illustrator, Bohdan Butenko.

Festival of World Cultures is not focused on ethno, folk or world music – Festival concentrates mostly on modern creation taking place here and now, being a vivid response given by artists to questions occurring in surrounding reality and seeking for common artistic denominator for people of different cultures. What iterests us are the artistic cooperations, intercultural projects between artists active in countries not of their origins. We would like to offer events which are equally breaking certain boundaries based on stereotypical thinking, and at the same time are exciting, full of joy, infusing audience with energy.
The One Minutes (TOM) is a brand name for moving images that last exactly one minute. It fits well in our world of looking quickly, understanding immediately and it is a response to the influence of commercials, video clips and the increased affordability of camera’s, computers and access to Internet. The limited time frame forces the maker to think critically about what he/she would like to show us. The flexibility of the formula and the diversity of dissemination from the street to galleries, tv and festivals make it an attractive and accessible contemporary art form for a broad audience.
