"Literary Sopot" [Open Culture SPA]

The Literary Sopot project is a stroll in the company of literature. In selected locations of Sopot, local actors will read fragments of books by Paweł Huelle, Czesław Miłosz, Marek Krajewski, Mariusz Czubaj and Zbigniew Herbert. The literary route will be constituted by places associated with the writers or their stay in Sopot and by locations characteristic of the city and described in the books.

The books will be read by, among others: Florian Staniewski, Krzysztof Gordon, Zbigniew Jankowski, Małgorzata Talarczyk and Jacek Labijak.

The reading sessions will be accompanied by presentation of visualization entitled In statu nascendi by Przemysław Adamski and Katarzyna Kijek. It was inspired by a quotation from Czesław Miłosz referring to motion pictures: medium that claims the right to feature reality.
Authors of the visualization will present the process of in statu nascendi rendering. They will try to capture the most ephemeral moment of creative process. The title of the work refers to transitory products of chemical reactions that cannot be isolated from this reaction. They only exist during the ‘process of creation’ and later vanish as a result of subsequent reactions.
The visualization will be presented at the end of every stroll, in the Library of Sopot or the Sierakowscy Manor House, depending on the route.

Route of the stroll:
1.Plac Zdrojowy (Zdrojowy Square) next to the State Art Gallery or the balneotherapy center - Castorp by Paweł Huelle
2. Aleja Samobójców by Marek Krajewski i Mariusz Czubaj (Franciszka Mamuszki Alley)
3. Kamień by Zbigniew Herbert in Park Północny
4. Library of Sopot (July 20 and 27) / Friends of Sopot Society, Sierakowscy Manor House (July 6 and 13) – fragments of works by Czesław Miłosz, presentation of In statu nascendi visualization.
The strolls will take place on every Wednesday, between July 6 and 27, from 5.00 pm until 7.00 pm.
