„Routes of liberation” is a unique exhibition. It brought together the historians and museum professionals representing: Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk, Dutch Foundation Liberation Route Europe, Allied Museum in Berlin, Museum Mémorial de Caen, National Liberation Museum 1944-1945 in Groesbeek and D-Day Museum in Portsmouth. The curators of this exhibition made use of its attractive form of design which combines multimedia elements and archival materials in order to look at the Second World War from multiple historical perspectives. Their goal was to reach across national boundaries to show the most lethal conflict in human history.

Official launch of the exhibition took place in February 2014 in the European Parliament and in the presence of its President Martin Schulz and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte. After that the exhibition set off on a journey around all the European institutions that took part in its preparation. (Learn more)
