23 June 2017, 7:00 p.m.

During the evening concert in St. John's Centre we will hear such songs as “Lubię Wrony”, “Nie Ma Jak U Mamy”, “La Valse Du Mal” or “Jesteśmy na wczasach”.

Gaba Kulka and Jan Młynarski join forces after a nearly 3-year break in a project involving their own interpretation of songs by Wojciech Młynarski.

In October 2010 Młynarski Plays Młynarski band released an album under Mystic Production label, titled “Rebeka Nie Zejdzie Dziś Na Kolację” (Rebecca Is Not Coming To Dinner Tonight).  The group toured around Poland, attended the “Polityka Passport 2010” award ceremony, was nominated to Fryderyk Awards in two categories and received very positive reviews in the music press.

Following a longer break in their creative work inspired by Wojciech’s repertoire, Jan Młynarski and Gaba Kulka have prepared a unique programme in which there is the famous featuring well-known and important lyrics, as well as improvisation, jazz, play with musical forms and a totally new, sometimes rebellious look at the creations of the Master.

Gaba Kulka and Jan Młynarski will be accompanied by outstanding representatives of Warsaw independent scene specialising in improvisation, members of the original Młynarski Plays Młynarski line-up: Wojciech Traczyk – bass and Piotr Zabrodzki – piano, electronic keyboard, will make another musical turnaround by adapting their interpretations previously developed for a group of six musicians to be performed by a trio plus vocals.

Jan Młynarski’s comment on the project:
“It only makes sense to reach for a classic if you understand it, not necessarily objectively, and if you know what you want to tell the audience by reinterpreting known or famous pieces. Gaba is not only a sensational singer, but also a top class musician, helping Wojtek and Piotr discover Młynarski’s music anew and enriching its musical aspects with improvisation and play with convention and form. This is what makes the Kulka/Młynarski project noteworthy and authentic, as it is based on concepts which were always of great importance to the author himself, while giving them a completely new direction”.
