The Baltic Impressions

Baltic Impressions - an exhibition of Maria Wollenberg-Kluza's works.

Maria Wollenberg-Kluza was born in 1945 in Puławy. After graduating from the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, she received her diploma with honours in 1973. She had about 160 individual exhibitions in Poland and abroad, and participated in numerous group exhibitions and presentations of Polish art abroad.

Her paintings are reflective: they refer to various forms of artistic expression - music, poetry, theatre, dance, as well as philosophy. The artist's work shows interest in antiquity, and also her fascination with Polish poetry and literature. Maria Wollenberg-Kluza is a continuation of Polish colouring. However, he modifies it through elements of expressionism and symbolism. He paints most frequently monothematic cycles of 20-30 works, among others, in the form of a book entitled People in the city, Man and machine, Cathedrals, Poetry Impressions, Game of imagination, Mother's animals, Pictures of Norwid, Spanish impressions, Impressions of Turkey, SALIGIA - seven main sins, Thinking and praying, Polish landscapes, Baltic Impressions, Camino. She has spent her holidays on the Baltic Sea for decades, where she created small, impressionistic works, whose motifs she often uses in larger compositions related to other, non-marines themes.
