In his “American Journals”, Albert Camus said: “I have my own rule, the rule is sea and everything in the world that reminds me of it… and the silence inside me, the silence that sets me free from everything”. These words seem to correspond well with marine themes of Marek Wróbel’s work, as well as his broadly understood attitude towards art. Art as a refuge and search for individual truths in the times of omnipresent media, curator’s dictatorship an expansive activity of various art groups may seem like an anachronistic choice. However, Marek Wróbel remains a consistent artist, for the most part true to art conventions that have been established over 30 years ago. The main goal of this Tri-city painter, student of three great professors of Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Kiejstut Bereźnicki, Hugon Lasecki and Władysław Jackiewicz, is to show his own emotions through artistic means.
