The Baltic Sea Cultural Centre would like to invite all music bands from pomeranian vovoidship to participate in Streetwaves-Liverpool competition in Gdańsk.

The goal of this competition is to choose a band that will represent our region at the open air Mathew Street Festival in Liverpool, 22-26 August 2008.

Mathew Street Festival is the biggest outdoor festival in northern Britain, which gathers thousands of people every year. The event is strongly publicized in the whole country and draw interest of music televisions and producers.

To apply fill in the application form and deliver it to the organizer office, as well as a demo (audio or dvd) of two pieces of the band.

Every qualified band will then be asked to appear at the open air competition concert, which will take place in May 18, 2008 as a part of Festival of European Culture Capitals, organized by the City Council of Gdańsk.

The concert will consist of performances of every qualified band, which will have to present one piece of their own and one arrangement of a piece by The Beatles.

The Jury will consist of two music journalists and a professional musician.

European Capital of Culture is a title given every year to one or two European cities, which then are to present their wide range of cultural events. The European Capital of Culture in 2008 is Liverpool. Gdańsk is trying to get this title in 2016.
