Metropolis is Okey

This is the fifth edition of our Festival Metropolis is Okey. The Festival venues are: club "Parlament"  in Gdańsk, club " Sfinks 700" in Sopot, club " Ucho" in Gdynia, the seat of the Baltic Sea Cultural Centre - the Old Town Hall, St. John's International Cultural Centre, and the seat of Gdańsk 2016.

The Festival will take place between 26th and 29th December and we shall see over 50 performances of local bands and exclusive presentation of dance theatres performing at St. John's International Cultural Centre. The Festival includes "literary meetings" with authors crowned with a performance of "Impro" theater-cabaret improvising group " W Gorącej Wodzie Kompani" . But it is not all... This year we shall introduce dj's night reviewing club scene as a part of our Festival on 27th December in "Sfinks 700" and "Flea Market" presenting works of the Tri City recording studios.

We want to invite you to the next meeting in the series Gdansk Reads to Kids. This meeting is entitled:  Dad, when will Santa Claus come?

We are also preparing sweet workshops on this occasion!

ADMISSION: You can take a free pass for a meeting in a bookstore in the Old Town Hall and in the Bookstore GWO in Wybrzeże Theatre. The amount of seats is limited.





 

"Taboo in art for children"

Issues of death, illness and adversity for a long time weren’t present in art created for children – similarly sex, domestic abuse or parents’ divorce. Nevertheless, the last decade has brought changes on this field and more and more often authors of books for children reach for the taboo subjects. Mostly Scandinavian authors and illustrators tend to present these subjects, but it can also be noticed at Austrian, Swiss or Portugese authors and artists.

3rd Festival of Spacial Forms Crossroads of Freedom – literary action [censorship free]

Soon within the 3rd Festival of Spacial Forms Crossroads of Freedom an open-air literary action will take place! To participate in it we encourage all poets and writers and all of you are warmly invited to observe it.
Within the Festival we decided to celebrate this year’s anniversary of the Gdańsk Agreement: we invite all Tri-City based poets and writers, no matter age, achievements and affiliation to write texts – all together, censorship-free and division free.

"Literary Sopot" [Open Culture SPA]

The Literary Sopot project is a stroll in the company of literature. In selected locations of Sopot, local actors will read fragments of books by Paweł Huelle, Czesław Miłosz, Marek Krajewski, Mariusz Czubaj and Zbigniew Herbert. The literary route will be constituted by places associated with the writers or their stay in Sopot and by locations characteristic of the city and described in the books.

"Artists, Madmen, Anarchists" - promotion of a book and a meeting with the authors

Soon in the Old Town Hall we will host the real artistic combo: Krzysztof Skiba, Paweł Konjo Konnak and Jarosław Doctor Janiszewski – authors of a book Artyści, Wariaci, Anarchiści – opowieść o gdańskiej alternatywie lat 80-tych (Artists, Madmen, Anarchists – a story of Gdansk alternative of the 80s), that was published by the National Cultural Centre.
In the programme: stormy discussions, shows of short documentary movies and shocking – as the authors announce – presentations.

"Dziecko z chmur" - meeting with authors of the book and a panel discussion about adoption
