Baltic Sea Cultural Gathering: The Cultural Innovations LAB: 4BalticS

Baltic Sea Cultural Gathering:

The Cultural Innovations LAB: 4BalticS

17–18 September 2015

The Baltic Sea Cultural Centre, 33/35 Korzenna St., Gdańsk

Key enquiry – In what ways do you (your organization?) meet the (existing and) anticipated future challenges of your region through your cultural work?
The activities throughout the Lab are based on interspersed case studies presentations by experts invited to the LAB and workshop activities.

The experts and participants are asked to base their answers to this question on concrete cases and tools in the context of the five themes of the conference i.e. Culture & Social Innovation, Culture & Education, Culture & Sustainability, Culture & Entrepreneurship, Culture & Smart Cities.

If we are to be more than just another (imagined) economically hi-jacked vehicle of growth;
If we want culture to take a more central position, we have to „step up”, be more innovative,
more inventive, more creative. The Cultural Innovations LAB: 4BalticS will be looking for practical examples of innovation leading to the future collaboration projects for Baltic Sea Region.

PROGRAMME

THURSDAY 17 September

16.00–16.30
Intro/bridging from the conference to the workshop by Oleg Koefoed

16.30–17.30
The part where Oleg Koefoed goes in depth with Eco Island as an approach and tool, related to the gap between complex, globalized life, and smart technology on the one hand, and the complexity increase created by the growth of new human-technology-interfaces, aimed at solving the complex problems.

Linking this issue directly to the Eco Island methodology, we invite the participants to explore how the tool can deal with the gap/complexity issue, and how culture can help bridge the gap and make complexity more livable. How can we for instance, develop new technologies to strengthen the method, and how can the method help us understand the relation between technology and sustainable life?
