Chopin Impressions – ballet performance

CHOPIN IMPRESSIONS – BALLET PERFORMANCE

Act 1: “Chopiniana of Freedom” choreographed by Michał Chróścielewski alludes to the liberation theme in F. Chopin's compositions. The juxtaposition of dance of diverse moods refers to the turbulent history of our nation over the millennium of its existence.

Act 2: “Hotel Lambert” choreographed by Bogdan Szymaniuk and Małgorzata Insadowska is set in a place of particular importance for the Polish nation. In its heyday the hotel was an important centre for Polish expatriates and was regarded as an unofficial representation of Poland. It was here that F. Chopin's music could be heard, giving the strength to keep on fighting and hope of a better future – it was a link connecting the exiles with their homeland.

Krystyna Biegańska's Foundation is an non-governmental organisation that has continued the nearly 30-year activities of Krystyna Biegańska's School of Polish Music and Dance. We promote the music of Polish composers, particularly Frederic Chopin.

The “Fryderykiana” ensemble was set up in 1999 by Witold Biegański to continue the tradition of HM King Stanisław August Poniatowski Ballet established in 1775 and renowned all over Europe; it is the only group in Europe to create original ballet impressions based on music by Chopin and other, often forgotten, Polish composers.
