"Miłosz. Biografia" – a meeting with an author, Andrzej Franaszek

The Baltic Sea Cultural Centre and Znak Publishing House invite to a meeting with Andrzej Franaszek (1971), author of a recently published book Miłosz. Biografia (Miłosz. Biography). The meeting will host Krystyna and Stefan Chwin.

Miłosz. Biografia is not only a vivid portrait of one of the greatest poets of 20th century, but also a history of that century with its wars, revolutions, totalitarianisms, dictatorships and longings for freedom and independency. All of those feelings and happenings – including a key role for that epoche, a faith of an outcast – the poet experienced himself. He also described all that in his works.
Andrzej Franaszek was collecting materials for that book for nearily 10 years – in Poland, Lithuania, France and US. He reached every person that could say something important about Miłosz, penetrated archives of Beinecke Library and Maisons-Laffitte, exemined poet’s correspondency.
The value of that book lies not only in the richness of materials, but also in a very inteligent way that the author used them – facts do not overwhelm a reader, but smoothly build a portrait of the poet and a person.
