9th edition of African Film Festival AfryKamera

This year we will show the official Polish premier of nominated for Oscar  "Mandel: Long walk to Freedom"  directed by Justin Chadwick, a Nigerian revelation of the International Film Festival in Toronto "Half of a Yellow Sun" with Chiwetle Ejiofor-the actor nominated to Oscar for his role in Steve McQeen's  production "12 years a slave" and the excellent documentary block including one of the hottest film of HotDocs "Devil's Lair" by Riaan Hendricks (South African Republic).

Besides the films screenings we have prepared accompanying events showing the rich culture of Nigeria.

During this year's "AfryKamera" we will hold the official Polish premier of nominated for Oscar and Golden Globes "Mandela:Long walk to Freedom" by Justin Chadwick with the leading role by Idris Elba-the actor famous for the cult serial "The wire" and "Luther". He is accompanied by Noami Harris , the "Skyfall" star and the mysterious witch Tia Dalma from "The Pirates of the Carribbean" .

The screening of the picture devoted to the legendary leader deceased in December coincides with 20th anniversary of the Freedom Day of the South African Republic. It is so much more important that Mandela -symbol of the fight against the apartheid had unusual contribution to the peaceful dismantlement of the inhuman system of pressure, where as the moral voice of reconciliation and forgiveness  he managed to almost by himself, prevent the civil war and the division of the country.Thus this anniversary has exceptional value as the symbolic coronation of this great man achievement.

This year we familiarize our audience with Nigeria, as one of 10 fastest growing countries in the world with dynamic movie industry. This is why in our program of movies and accompanying events we will talk about the culture, kitchen and spirituality of Nigerians. Often treated with a laugh and disregard as non-professional professional movie , Nollywood industry has become the continental superpower. With over 2000 movies a year production it this crazily developing branch, quickly becoming professional and with seriously growing formerly miniature budgets . New creators come to the market with thoroughly new quality, making us believe that in next couple of years, Nollywood will become the world recognized center for movie production.

PROGRAM:

New face of Nollywood, movie from Nigeria - a special block of movies relating to new wave of Nollywood movies. We will show "Half of a Yellow Sun" dir. Biyi Bandele. The director will visit Poland invited by "AfryKamera".

Afroselecta - the selection of the best movies from the continent in two blocks: short movies and feature movies.

Afrokids - projections for children and animation workshops (based on African tales and myths).

AWARDS
As every year the audience will vote for the best movie of the festival. The winning movie will be awarded with ZEBRA 2014 award. The jury of the festival will choose the best movie of the festival and award it with GAZELA 2014
