Pro Patria- exhibition of Tomasz Sobisz

Set deeply in tradition and culture -objet trouve- an identity tag from Second World War is another designator of immortality. The exhibition PRO PATRIA is a collection of identity tags, showing the dialectics of memory forms, becoming the unusual and personal eviron-mentality of the author. "Such way of art manifesting itself enters the real life and becomes a part of one's nature" - says author. The sculptures of Sobisz are his reflections on the world, accompanied by the awareness of the passing time and his usual sensitivity to shapes from the sphere of human's  material culture where their lives are played.

Tomasz Sobisz graduated from Fine Arts Academy in Gdańsk in 1988. Currently a PhD he works at the Academy in the Sculpture Department.

His sculpture works were awarded with prestigious awards- among others by The Ministry of Culture and Heritage, the President of Gdańsk award for culture, the Rector award, first prize in Triennale Sztuki Pomorskiej. In 2012 he received medal Pro Patria and in 2014 he became the laureate of "Skra Ormundzka" and received a medal from Polish Senate. His sculptures were presented on his individual exhibition MEMORANDUM in Gdańsk, STABILE in 2012 and MY HERITAGE in Lębork. Tomasz Sobisz participated in dozen of collective and individual exhibitions in the country and abroad.
