PERFORMANCE
Ocean Feeling
Curator
: Adam Mandziejewski
Artists: Karolina Kliszewska, Piotr Charytoniuk

Within curators miniatures we are presenting two performances, which through physical acts reach for metaphysical meanings, through incorporations want to touch transcendental. Transgression of physical and social condition is the core of the performance, happening once through unlimited expression of narcissism, once through actualization of initiation ritual and in both cases leads to bringing out the potential of community and even to the potential unity with the outside world. Schechner’s preserved behavior – the core of transforming power of a performance – is used to regain the unity with the outside world, the unity which is hypothesized and felt and with the tools of the performance made present and confirmed.

In the discussion of Z. Freud and R. Romain this is called oceanic feeling. From this perspective the oceanic feeling was once judged as the source of all religion and once as a pathological nostalgia after a protective arm of the father. Although the debating could not agree on the source of the feeling, they agreed as to the content – it is losing the border between the subject and the outside world, the state of total community and unlimited delight.

The presented performances are adding to the ongoing discussion of the source of the spirituality.
