Holiday of remembrance Dziady or Radunica

Holiday of remembrance Dziady or Radunica

We tend to forget that Dziady were one of the major holidays of Slavs, rooted in their culture so much that the church have not managed to uproot the custom.

Some of the rituals that we perform on that day, like burning candles , are fragments of the Slavic tradition. However, today, facing the influence of foreign customs ( Halloween ) we forget the essence and the genesis of the holiday celebrated at the end of October and the beginning of November.

The Slavs unlike the Celts have not escaped the dead by hiding behind masks and costumes. They were inviting wondering souls to dine with the living, to interact.

Dziady realized by the Baltic Sea Cultural Centre is a new presentation of the forgotten custom. The attractive multimedia performance is meant to engage the audience and encourage them to deepen the knowledge of the Slavonic tradition.
Dziady realized in the historic st. John's church is a word and music spectacle inspired by Slavic culture.

The spectacle welcomes the premier of A piece on percussion, devils fiddle, live electronics, tape and multi-chanell projection by Jarosław Drozd.
