Inauguration of international project River of opportunities // Rzeki możliwości

On March 13 and 14, we invite you to participate in the seminar and workshops within the international inauguration of the project River of Opportunities // Rzeki Możliwości with the partcipation of 10 European cities on rivers banks.

The public space is the common good shared by the citizen and the way this public spaces are governed and used says a lot about the social trends, social engagement and the identity of the citizens.

This Learning Partnership by bringing together 10 European organisations aims at sharing knowledge on practising culture in public places as a way of engaging audiences (also current non-audiences) in new environments, specifically on urban waterfronts/ river banks across Europe. The underlying issue is to how to use audience development strategies for this purpose. By means of this project good practices will be identified, possibilities explored and eventually, new models of non-formal education art projects drafted and disseminated.

The meeting in Gdańsk will be partially open to the public including presentations, debates and workshops. One of the topics will be the case of Young City Gdańsk, which is being developed in post-shipyard area. We would like to discuss the role of cultural events on waterfronts and their impact on the development of the new district as well as the possibility of implementing there participatory planning facilitated by artists.
