Pianists for Gdańsk

Festival “Pianists for Gdańsk” brings local pianists to wider public. Among the pianists there are graduates and students of Music Academy from Gdańsk. The idea behind the festival is to stimulate the activity of pianists from Gdańsk and help them to integrate through playing together, also to promote the young artists and let them realize their creative plans. The artists present some outstanding masterpieces of the classical music, shown in various contexts, at the concerts with clear subjects.

Winter edition of the festival
This year’s winter edition is soaked in the spirit of fascination with widely understood national culture. The audience will have the chance to hear masterpieces of diverse style and epochs, reaching inside of traditions, showing national diversity inspired with dance, folklore and native creativity of various regions of Europe.

21 February ( Saturday) : Chopin’s piano: Chopin’s half-recitals
First of this two evenings – Chopin’s piano – is a tribute to one of the greatest Poles in the history. The concert is an apotheosis of Fryderyk Chopin’s work. In this through and through Polish evening, two extraordinarily talented pianists from Gdańsk – Adam Piórkowski and Piotr Pawlak will perform. In their half-recitals the artists will present a wide scope of music genres which we can find in rich output of the composer.

22 February ( Sunday ) : Musical Journey : inspiration with dance and folklore in music.

Second of the evenings is a peculiar “musical mosaic of cultures” . At the concert we will hear the performances of the graduates and some excellent students of the Music Academy in Gdańsk. We will hear two piano duets: Aleksandra Furmańska and Paulina Kuchniak along with Adam Piórkowski and Mikołaj Sikała duet. The artist’s will carry the audience into the colourful world of music inspired with dance and national arts and culture. We will hear pieces composed in fascination with folklore, the beauty of nature or unusual character of various geographical regions.
