Meeting with Austrian writer Karl-Markus Gauss

Karl-Markus Gauss - Born in 1954 in Salzburg where he still lives. Study of the Germanistik and history. Versatile writer, literary critic and publisher. Since 1991 publishers of the magazine "literature and criticism". Crowd-repairing essayist, in numerous languages of translated travel writers as well as author of journals, in which it meets essays, comments and notes to the current zeitgeschehen. Author of the "European alphabet" (1997) - critical considerations to Europe, Regionalismus, Volk, Heimat and Identitaet in encyclopedia manners.
Gauss always connects the analytic sense of sharp of the essayists in his texts with the erzaehlerischen fortune of the man of letters. Writes for "the time", "general-means Frankfurt", "new inhabitants of zurich newspaper", "the press". 1995 received the state price for culture journalism.

During the meeting he is going to promote his book The Hundeesser of Svinia. Svinia is a place in the east of the Slovakia, in the extension zone of the European union; and a place, as please from the time and the world. There the discharging under the poorest the European, Roma, who pursues so for a long time resettled, live were ignored, until they forgot their own history. 700 humans living in Svinia are despised even by the other Roma, because they are considered as Degesi, as "Hundeesser", and a caste of the untouchable ones to form. Of this strange, close world this book reports, with which Karl Markus Gauss teaches us on the new being astonished at Europe.
