Andersen's New Clothes

Andersen’s New Clothes – seminar; new look at Andersen’s life and work – presentation of new translations and editions of the fairytales and one of the best biographies published lately.

In program:
* meeting with Bogusława Sochańska – the translator of the new edition of the selection of fairytales and co translator of the latest biography “Hans Christian Andersen” by an English writer Jackie Wullschlager
* discussion about the new translation with participation of writers, critics and translators
* presentation of illustrations, posters, books and theater puppets
* presentation of Andersen fairytales by a special guest - Danish storyteller Connie Olsen

Hans Christian Andersen’s bicentenary takes place in 2005. There is a worldwide celebration of this very important anniversary. Andersen - Shades and Shadows is a year-long project taking place in Gdańsk - a common undertaking of many Polish and international cultural institutions. The project has been granted the logo of HCA2005 Foundation – the main organizer of the worldwide celebration.The aim of the project is a multifaceted presentation of H.C. Andersen as the author who wrote both for children and adults, a drawer and a great personality of his time.
