Midsummer Eve Celebration

„Midsummer Eve Celebration” – a series of events connected with tradition of the shortest night of the year. In spite of the pagan roots today this event is linked with art, religion and spending time together. That is why our project consists of various activities directed to various spectators.

In program:

* video installation by Dominik Lejman (opening 20.06, 7 p.m.)

* The Midsummer Opera’s Music Days: 21.06, 7 p.m. - Vincenzo Bellini La Sonnambula (artists from opera in Tartu – Estonia); 22.06, 7 p.m. - Giuseppe Verdi I Masnadieri (artists from the Baltic Opera in Gdańsk); 23.06, 7 p.m. - Giuseppe Verdi Otello (artists from the Grand Theatre in Poznań); 24.06, 7 p.m. - Fryderyk Haendel Xerxes (students form Academy of Music in Gdańsk)

* "Priest Józef Tischner and ethos of the intelligence" - scientific sessin (Old Town Hall) - 25.06, 11 a.m - 3 p.m.

* The Midsummer Eve Concert – concert of Anita Lipnicka and John Porter (25.06, 7 p.m.)

* St. John’s Fete – The Mess, visit of a folk band and Kashubian fishermen (26.06, noon)

All the events take place in St. John’s Centre (church and surroundings) 50 ?więtojańska Street and Old Town Hall 33/35 Korzenna Street.
