Tuwim here

Exhibition of illustrations created by Polish illustrators for Julian Tuwim poems for children

Tuwim is considered to be one of the most outstanding creators of poems, cabaret-pieces, lyrics, as well as, one of the first modern translators of poetry. His creative work for children is widely known and most favored. In Poland almost anyone can mention some of his poems or even recite at least a small piece from "Lokomotywa" ( The Engine ). It is no wonder that from the very first publications created for children,  his poems are accompanied with excellent illustrations, compelling the best Polish illustrators starting from the duo Lewiit-Him or superb Szancer, Lenica, Butenka Truchowska or Stanny-reprezenting the famous Polish school of book illustration and to the last publications by seven graphic designers ( Malgorzata Gurowska, Monika Hanulak, Justyna Wroblewska, Marta Ignerska, Agnieszka Kucharska-Zajkowska, Anna Niemierko, Gosia Urbanska-Macias) from Fine Arts Academy in Warsaw. Those last mentioned reached the international acclamation, the poems illustrated by them were awarded Bologna Ragazzi Award in 2008 and one year later got special distinction from the jury on International Biennale of Illustration in Bratislava.

The illustrations by this team are the main part of the exhibition of illustrations to Tuwim poems and this works are displayed next to the best illustrations created since 1934
