City of our dreams: the Nature of the Shipyard

The Baltic Sea Cultural Centre, in association with 100cznia, invites you for summer events called "City of Our Dreams: The Nature of the Shipyard".

As part of Memory of Water, an EU project, we have been collecting citizen's dreams about the future of the post-industrial zones of Gdańsk Shipyard. The participants of the project called Stocznia od Nowa submitted their wishes in six categories, including GREEN AND ECOLOGY. Now, we are going to focus on the latter. Majority of these wishes inspired some of the international artistic interventions carried out in 2019 in Stocznia Cesarska which outcome can be seen today. We hope they will inspire everyone who visits that place. We will be meeting monthly throughout the summer in 100cznia to talk with the authors of the most interesting idead on how to make our city green again. This includes plans for the Shipyard zone.

The first event is taking place on 24th of June at 7:00 p.m. Agnieszka Wołodźko, artist, curator and culture animator will present her "Solidarity Garden" – a plan of creating and recreating gardens, orchards and flower beds in the Shipyard. It would be a place of meetings, interactions and integration of the community where people would make picnincs, festivals and locally produce vegetables, fruits and herbs.

During the next events (22nd July, 26th August, 16th September), we will talk about the following subjects: "Wild green – freedom for the plants", "The winged, the furry and the other non-human city inhabitants – how to create fauna and flora friendly urban space", "Park and green paths - Steffens Park as a point of reference".
