It is our tradition to invite you for the special evening – a concert combined with remembrance of those who left us during the last year. Our friends and colleagues who created the Polish cultural scene in Gdańsk, Pomorskie region.

Krystyna Suchecka, pianist, teacher, professor. Passed away on 16th Oct 2020.
Born in Grudziądz, graduated from Sopot. For years she has been associated with the Stanisław Moniuszko Music Academy in Gdańsk working as a teacher and accompanist. Performed with violinists Kazimierz Wiłkomirski and Roman Suchecki. With the latter, she co-created praperformances of contemporary composers.
Jerzy Marian Michalak, music artist, conductor, chamber pianist, teacher. Passed away on 27th Nov. 2020.
He started his career as an accompanist in Music Secondary School in Gdańsk. Worded as a conductor in Gdańsk, Warsaw, Szczecin. He was a an opera director, artistic director in operas, ballets, for a period of time a music director at Wybrzeże Theare in Gdańsk. Taught in music academies in Gdańsk and Bydgoszcz. Since the middle of the 90s, he had been researching the musical and theatrical life in Gdańsk and Sopot after 1945.
Jacek Sieński, journalist, marine writer, museologist, historian and sailor. Passed away on 14th Dec 2020.
Specialised in marine topics. Covered marine life in all aspects. Author of narratives, interviews and books. A long time author of regional newspapers “Dziennik Bałtycki” and “Głos Stoczniowca”.
Zaza Wilczewska actually Zenona Maria Wilczewska, writer, poet, cultural activist related to Tricity. Passed away on 24th Dec 2020.
A long time head of the Sopot Gallery (BWA Sopot). Published three poem books and a collection of short stories. Author of a novel “Lunia”. She also wrote memories called “Post-Sopot sketches” (“Szpikce po-sopockie”).
Maciej Zięba, catholic priest, theologian, philosopher, teacher, physicist, author. Passed away on 31st Dec 2020.
Founder and first head of the European Solidarity Centre (2007-2010). Associated with the Polish anti-communist opposition. Became a friar in the 1980s.
Grzegorz „Guzik” Guziński, rock vocalist. Passed away on 9th Jan 2021.
Member of rock bands Red Rooster and N’Dingue and Flapjack. Sang in Homosapiens, has guest performances on two albums by Illusion.
Tadeusz Zielonka, writer, teacher, esseist, tv writer. Passed away on 24th Jan 2021.
Born in Poznań, for years lived in Śląsk, especially Opole. Academic teacher in Słupsk since the middle of the 1970s.

Jerzy Limon, Enslish professor, writer, translator, theatre expert, academic, creator and director the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre. Passed away on 3rd March 2021.
Graduate of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. English professor at the University of Gdańsk where he worked as the Head of the History of Literature and British Culture Department. Author of approximately ten books and numerous articles, as well as theatrical reviews. Cofounder and Principal of Theatrum Gedanense Foundation. He received the Order of the Britigh Empire.

Kazimierz Kostka, sculptor. Passed away on 15th March 2021.
His favourite material was wood. He realised religious topics. His most famous works are the “Kashubian Band” which stood on the Papal Altar in 1999 on the John Paul II travel in Sopot. He had exhibitions in Poland and abroad.

One of the best luthiers in Poland and the whole world. He lived and worked in Wrzeszcz disctrict in Gdańsk.
Cezary Niedziółka, literature director at the Wybrzeże Theatre. Passed away on 11th Oct 2021.
He began working in Teatr Powszechny in Warszaw in the 1980. as a secretary for literature affairs. An theatre expert recently associated with Wybrzeże Theatre in Gdańsk.
